Family Heirloom and a Makeover.

When I need some comfort, instead of eating tons of sweets, I use to open my 'Comfort Drawer', where as suggested by the author of Simple Abundance I keep things that make me happy and small indulgences for the days that try my soul. This caught my attention today... It was my Grandmother's silver rosary.

The lady featured in the antique picture is not my Grandmother actually, but she has something that reminds me of her, so I used this photograph for my display.
The two white cherubs were a find of a couple of years ago (they were pink and blue). It took me two years to give them a coat of white acrylic paint and some antiquing glaze, but finally they're sooo me and I just love them!

The walnut rosary case.

I also had my 'Comfort Therapy' (= thrifting), and found these salt shakers, together with a fabulous apothecary jar I will show soon. As you can see, I will use them for my crafting!

And oh, the 'before' shot of the cherubs.

Have a terrific end of the week everyone,

  1. I love the wallnut case! I once had a genuine wallnut case with the sweetest very small antique perfume bottle in it: about 3/4 ". I still have the bottle but lost the cage somewhere. Probably thrown away by my mom as I have been a terrible hoarder all my life and she must have thought what the heck does she need an empty wallnut for?
Have you thought about joining silver Sunday?
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely day!

  2. What a difference painting the cherubs made!! They are beautiful. And so is your Grandmother's rosary and case. How nice that they were passed down to you!!

I love Simple Abundance. It's a book that you can refer to over and over again. I so wish the author had been able to follow up with another great book for women.

  3. What a pretty little vignette of treasures.
Of course it is ok to add my blog to your list. Hope I don't get to boring for you. :-)

  4. How special that you have your Grandmother's rosary, the walnut case is so beautiful,
    a real treasure, Monica !
    Lovely pictures in white shades.

  5. I like what you did with the cherubs. The glazed white is much better.
