Vintage Valentines Galore.

Happy St. Valentine's Day everyone!
This weekend I'm joining Joan @Anything Goes Here to share my collection of vintage Valentines. Hope you'll enjoy having a look! I also joined Beverly's Pink Saturday again...  hooray!!
I am in love with Valentines since my childhood (despite of my IT genes, I already was Anglophile!!). I have been collecting them for a couple of years only, but I have now realized, joining the party, that I already have a decent- sized collection! I received some as gifts from lovely friends, and purchased almost all the postcards at Flea Markets. These are but a few of those I own... they are mainly French and from the USA, a few from Italy and UK.

Isn't this just amazing?? You cannot appreciate it from the picture, but it is printed on satin and padded! It came in its pretty cardboard case, addressed and stamped. My dear sister friend presented it to me. xx

From Jackie to his beloved wife!

This is Italian...

... and written to Robertina by a very passionate lover (he wrote he'd have given his own blood for her!)... :O

And what about this sweet Cupid??

... Where it all started! I started collecting Valentines when I was on vacation in New England and while antiquing at the Cambridge Antique Market in Boston I bumped into a nice bundle of five cards, from Charles to darling Ms. Virginia... These are two of the 5 I found, all complete with addressed and stamped envelopes, dating back to the 50's.

Another fabulous one from Jackie to his wife, with charming details and some crystals too!

French ones...

I used a copy of this one as cover picture on the journal that has been featured on Green Craft Magazine. Do you recognize it?

Other French ones...

... Italian ones. Such a different style!

Please pay Joan and Beverly a visit to see what all the other participants are sharing on this special day! Just a note: Beverly is now at the hospital to have her gallbladder removed after a tough period. You can read the updates on her blog and join me wishing her a very swift recovery!
Happy St. Valentine's Day!
Monica x.

  5. They are very lovely, what a nice collection from different places. I know a woman that saved all her valentine cards from her classmates during her elementary years.

    Have a Wonderful Day-

  6. Monica, these cards are absolutely glorious! And I love how you began collecting them with the romantic ones from Charles and Virginia and then moved on to the romantic Italian cards and French ones. That first photograph with the beautiful card and ballerina pink roses is breathtaking. So, so lovely! I also love the messages. Thanks for sharing. Here's wishing you not only a Happy Pink Saturday, but a Happy Valentine's Day as well...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Gosh you have a lovely place here. I'm so glad I popped in. Thanks for sharing your beautiful vintage cards today. I had a peek at the rose tutorial below. Magnificent! I must try it sometime although I do pretty much the same thing with my paper roses on on a much smaller scale.

  34. So sorry that I missed you yesterday. It seemed like the day just ran away from me! But, with this being ♥Valentine's Day♥ what better time for me to stop by to see your Pink Saturday goodies.

It's been a long and dark winter up here near Canada so filling myself up with pink is my way on the weekend of chasing away the blues - not that blue isn't a nice color, too☺

I ♥ coming here. All the pink and all the girlie stuff just floods my brain and makes me want to do a happy dance right where I sit!

Thanks so much for sharing. After all, isn't sharing one of life's greatest pleasures?

    ♫Happy Valentine's Day♫

  37. Love all your Valentines! Thank you for the visit for my snowy Monday. And for your sweet words about Reba. She had been doing so well but, today we went in for blood work (results not back yet... may be tomorrow) & the vet found a lump that has gotten very hard on her belly. She is afraid it is cancer & the reason we have just not been able to stabalize her. Say prayers please. I had so thought we had turned the corner. HUGS! Charlene
