My Thoughts about Blogging.

Thank you SO very much for taking the time to leave your enthusiastic comments about Janvier the bear and on my last post of 2010- you surely know how to make this girl feel happy!:)
***
Here and there around Blogland, I often find posts about blogging.
I thought I might offer too my own thoughts to you. This article has brought me many blessings and deep joy.  I want to publicly thank dearly all the people (often complete strangers and non- bloggers) who took the time to drop me a note about it. And my gratitude goes once again to the Managing Editor, for giving me the wonderful opportunity to spill my heart out this way. When I was asked to be part of this magazine I couldn't imagine this would have had such a positively amazing impact on both my creative and private life!
I know many of my readers weren't able to put their hands on that yummy issue and read my article... so here it is for all of you to enjoy!

  2. Love your article and your honesty. I think we all go through the stage in blogging where you question yourself. There is always the comparison thing and the number of followers that nags at the back of your mind. Thank you for helping clarify for me why I blog and remembering that I should blog from my heart. It so easy to feel overwhelmed and lacking by everyone's talent, accomplishments, number of followers, etc. But all I have to do is "be myself". Thank you again Monica. I didn't realize you live in Italy. A new friend overseas!

So many bloggers and so many reasons to blog, but I think that in the end, we all end up blogging from the heart. I don't see how we could help it. Thank you for posting, I am going to look for this issue, Char

  12. Monica my friend, thank you so much for sharing your article on your blog. I was one who did not see this wonderful article in print, and I am so happy to have been able to read it. So much of your story could have been written by me! I too, felt a little disconnected with the rest of world, and it wasn't until I found Blogland, that I realized there was a whole world out there filled with women just like me!! I have also found a new career as a result of my blog, and the friends I have made here are more valuable than gold. Thank you again for publishing such a beautiful on line journal. It brings me a smile every time I come and visit.
    Have an absolutely joyful 2011!!!!
    xo,
    Karen

  13. Oh I have so many thoughts, where to start? First and foremost, your blog fills me with beauty and happiness each and every time I visit. Your photography skills blow my mind. I swoon.

I do hope you feel the same as you write down and share your bits of bliss.

For truly that is what matters.

Numbers and comments are truly a double edged sword. No one is more shocked than myself to see DTA's numbers and comments growing. But I now spend the better part of my allowed blogging time responding to the emails and comments because I feel it is the polite thing to do. (Yes, I have seen your blogging without obligation button.) But I still feel like I must respond. Sadly, this leaves me very little time to peruse and comment on the blogs I truly cherish. So I quickly scan and rarely leave a comment. Ahem. Throat clearing.

I have decided that in 2011 I will be writing about things I cherish. I know I will lose readers perhaps on my new Wednesday posts.
It's ok. Because the bottom line is I am writing for me.

You are talented, amazing and inspirational. It is my selfish hope that you will always write even if I don't always have the time to say "Thank you".

  15. Hi Monica, a wonderful article and beautiful images. When my cousin "forced" me to start a blog, she told me to give it 30 days because I didn't think I would like it so much. Now, a year and a half later, I am so grateful for the true connections I have made with lovely ladies all over the world. It's the honesty, sincerity and creativity that draw me to certain blogs/bloggers. I will never have a blog that looks professional. My photos will never be magazine worthy. That's just not me and I don't compare myself to others. It is the friendships that are so meaningful. Wishing you abundant blessings. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Best wishes, Tammy

  16. Oh, sweetpea, I think you've said what's in the hearts of most of us bloggers. I do blogging for ME and the joy I get from photographing items, etc. for each post, writing, and putting my heart and thoughts to paper (or should I say monitor here). ;-) I doubt I'll ever be published for that's not as important to me as just being ME and making people think, smile or even giggle at my life. I need this for therapy and it's much cheaper than a psychiatrist and soooo much more fun.
    xoxo,
    Connie

  21. Monica,

I loved the article! I think we have all had the same struggles to find our place in the blogging world, thinking about pressing the delete button, or being anxious over comments and numbers. I think blogging bliss only happens when you let those things go and blog first and foremost for yourself. Like you, I have made some amazing friendships and had opportunities open up to me that I never would have had if I did not have a blog. I hope you will continue to share the beauty of your heart and life as long as feel led to. I truly enjoy your blog. Thank you for spilling your heart and letting us know that we are not alone in the very same thoughts and feelings. Many blessings on your continued journey sweet friend!

  23. I admire your work and blogging. I am a "newbie" however, for me, it's not a numbers thing....it's writing about what I love and my personal expressions.

    Thank you for your inspirations.
