⎨Slow living means creating your own peace⎬
All of us want peace.
Yet in this world, it might seem very hard to find.
I have a tried and tested recipe for you.
For many years now, I have been very, very peaceful, no matter what was happening in my life or in the world. Since my transformation from the inside out, not only have I created this profound and unshakeable peace within myself, but I also "radiate" it through my presence. I cannot tell you how many times I've been told by complete strangers that just watching me or being around me, they felt at peace.
Do you want to find peace? Then just be peaceful!
Most people want peace but they are consumed by their anxiety, worries, concerns, and fears. They think they can defy the laws of this Universe, but alas, they can't.
In order to find peace reflected in your life, you must feel at peace. In order to see peace reflected in the outside circumstances of your life, you must have peace inside yourself. Easy peasy, yet so hard to accomplish, isn't it. But I've done that, and I do that on a daily basis, so can you. I've gone from being an anxious, worried and fearful person, to a completely different one, that is deeply rooted in peace, trust, confidence, and Truth. If I could do it, so can you.
My English Countryside Slow Living Notecards are here.
I share in detail my story and the steps I've taken to get there in my personal growth & healing online course, "Transformation Time: Cocoon in the Darkness to Grow Your Wings" (now temporarily closed to new enrollments since I'm updating it, but it will be available again soon). So, if you are interested in doing this work and you're committed, follow the link and you'll find out more about the course.
However, what I wanted to share in this post, are some ways you can find that peace within, and start your journey.
Slow living is a fantastic way to do this, simply because, when you slow down and remove the unnecessary busyness or things in your life, you'll create a lot of stillness, that is the gateway to peace.
Seeking for Beauty.
Solo drives, and using my camera to stay present.
Beautiful and peaceful images & note cards and images that you can frame or send.
Finding peace in Nature, and chasing the sunset! :)
These are some of the practical ways I have been doing this in my life.
1. Assess where you are, and be at peace with that. In order to get where you want to be, you must understand where you are, and make peace with that. Let's say you are in New York City and want to be in Vermont for the Fall foliage season, where's the problem? You know you're in NYC, but you also know with certainty that if you get on your car and drive following the map and signs, you'll eventually get to Vermont! Right? There's so much JOY and peace in knowing that!! :)
2. Decide where you want to be, and make a firm, deliberate and conscious choice to get there. In order to get somewhere- anywhere- you must make a choice to get there! So easy, yet most people fail to take this step. You have to want to arrive where you want to arrive, and make it very yummy! LOL Think and feel how nice it will be to be there. Feel yourself already there, like if you were actually already in Vermont, savoring the Beauty and simple pleasures of Autumn! This is what we tend to do when we plan a vacation, for example, but we fail to take this step with more general things in life, like finding peace or fulfillment.
3. Declutter your life from unnecessary things, and things to do. Remove from your heart and mind outdated and unhealthy beliefs, preconceived ideas, other people's beliefs and opinions, old stories, and old negative feelings (resentment, hurt, attachment to the need to be right, and so on). In this way, you'll create a lot of space in your life, in your mind, in your emotions. You can virtually come with me on "Dates With Yourself: Be Fearless & Follow Your Bliss" in my online course, where we do this work together.
4. Make new choices, aligned with peace. Now it's time to play and have fun!! Do the things you've always wanted to do, that put you at peace. Some of the things I do, that I explain in my posts on this blog and in my inspirational courses, are for example taking solo drives in order to listen to the guidance from my Soul that speaks through my heart, going on Dates With Myself, strolling around with my camera to use as a tool to be present and zero me in, seeking Beauty, exposing myself to the energy of peace in quiet places and in nature, avoiding places and situations that aren't peaceful (like social media, tv, or negative conversations, for example), surrounding myself with images that evoke a sense of peace (for example, my English Countryside slow living note cards that can be framed and hung on a wall, or sent to family and friends with peaceful notes from your heart), chasing the sunset (... yes!! Sooo much fun!!) and so on.
5. Find time for stillness, and to just "be". I love my practice that I call Sacred Laziness, when I do absolutely nothing. Have you ever heard of the line, "dolce far niente", in Italian? Being Italian I think I have this in my genes! LOL It's something that I love, and a very nice way to take care of myself, when I notice I'm rushing, and I need to deliberately slow down. Maybe I sit on my favorite armchair by the window and contemplate the Beauty I see outside, or listen to the birds and savor the present moment, or I observe my life like an external observer, without judgment. Or I go in Nature, I sit down and stay there for a while without doing anything or thinking of anything. The stillness that you create by slowing down is invaluable in helping you to create a peaceful life.
I hope this post will give you peace, and will motivate you to start your journey to a (more) peaceful you.
Love,
and bye for now,
Monica xoxo
