⎨Slow & cozy, hygge Christmas in my home⎬
This post is part of a series of posts that accompanies my journaling & inspirational workshop, "Quiet Christmas: A Self-Love Journey for the Month of December". If you're looking for a way to slow down at Christmastime, find peace, and savor this time of the year like never before, then this workshop is for you! :) The course doesn't take into consideration the religious aspect of Christmas, it's a Personal Growth, Bliss & Healing workshop. What if the cure for Holiday stress was more self-love and honoring our needs and desires? Quiet Christmas is an inspiring and powerful workshop in e-book format with daily journaling prompts (can be done even without journaling, if you prefer), to guide you on a journey of self-love and radical self care during the month of December. What if we put ourselves and our deep needs and desires first?
In "Quiet Christmas, A Self-Love Journey for the Month of December", we start by creating hygge and atmosphere in our homes, to make ourselves comfortable and create a nurturing and cozy environment where we feel at ease.
I personally notice that each and every year my mood is different and my desires are different, and so my Christmas decor just reflects that. I never plan or overthink my home decor (and anything really in my life!), but I love to go with the flow, and see what happens! :)
Last year, I created this tree with lots of handmade ornaments and precious memories for me, all in the shades of red and white.
| The patterns and step-by-step craft tutorials for my handmade ornaments are here. |
It was very playful, and of course, my English antique Teddy Bear "Orsetto" (that you may remember I found in the Cotswolds more than a decade ago!!) wanted to come out and play, too! :)
I also love to coordinate the gift wrapping to the theme of my tree, and so I opted for a very simple, country-looking plaid paper, together with one decorated with snowflakes and another with delicate berry posies.
| Don't worry! We didn't use the fireplace! :) |
Lanterns and candles are always a big part of my decor since I love them and the atmosphere they create so much. Being a HSP and very sensitive to light, I do not like at all fast paced twinkling lights or rooms that are too bright, therefore the atmosphere created by candles and table lamps is just perfect for me.
As I often do, I also gathered together Orsetto's friends (some of my handmade mohair bears, some of my bears from when I was a child, and a few travel mementoes). I'm a Teddy Bear person after all (and a lover of vintage and antique toys), and I simply adore the childlike touch and playful atmosphere that they impart to my Holiday decor!
Much love, and see you soon with another post!
Monica xoxo
