⎨My "Just Show Up" Watercolor Journaling & Sketching Challenge 2025: day 4⎬
I did the next spread in two days. I started on April, 7th, and finished on April 8th. I can still vividly remember the day I painted these little scenes from Provence: I was having the time of my life!!! :)
In these sketches I also tried something new: using a fountain pen to sketch. I had seen other artists using it, and I had always wanted to try!! Since I did not have or found locally the type of pen with specialty nib they were using, I decided to get a couple inexpensive ones and try. And guess what? I LOVED it immensely!
On April 8th, I also had the idea to maybe have a smaller sketchbook that was easier to work in... I had always wanted a small sketchbook! And so, in the early morning, while I was preparing my breakfast, I painted this blue window with roses in Provence on a loose piece of paper! It really was a quick sketch in watercolor, and it opened up a new world to me!!
Just because I had tried something new, I realized that:
1. I can do my watercolor journaling & sketchbook also very early in the morning, literally while preparing my breakfast (and also after it, if I am so inclined);
2. I don't necessarily need natural light;
3. I can do it also at night, maybe after dinner if I want to relax;
4. I can do wonderful things that I love very quickly;
5. I can use a fountain pen to sketch, or whatever. I don't need to follow rules.
6. I can use a small sketchbook or whatever piece of paper I want or have laying around, and it counts as my daily sketching practice;
7. My daily sketching practice doesn't need to actually be "daily" in order for me to call it so;
And for today... that's all, folks! :)
