AUTUMN ACTIVITIES: PLANTING SPRING BULBS

⎨Autumn activities: planting Spring bulbs⎬

When temperatures drop, it's time to plant bulbs that will bloom next year in Spring. It's such a simple pleasure that fills my heart with JOY.

Newly bought bulbs will peform better, but you can also use old bulbs, provided they're still alive. Healthy bulbs are firm and "fat" to the touch, small and soft bulbs are probably not good anymore, and it's better to discard them.

Some bulbs (like mine pictured below) might show already signs of new growth, and they are good to be planted. Keep in mind, though, that not every old bulb is sure to bloom again! There are some variety that don't, especially when planted in a container. Other bulbs, if planted in the soil, will be blossoming repeatedly year after year.

If you want to be sure, get new bulbs every year for your pots! They're fairly inexpensive and will bring you a lot of JOY!

You can use any type of clean container (with drainage), usually it's better to use large ones, but if the bulbs are new and healthy, they will bloom also in small containers.

Then cover them for their long Winter slumber, and patiently wait until it's time to bloom.
